Industrial heritage as a source of inspiration
Step inside Kokerei Hansa in Dortmund, a place where steel and history come together to tell a story. The Kokerei Hansa coking plant and industrial complex is a museum, nature park, and event venue all in one. It is a central point on the Route of Industrial Heritage, which takes visitors past industrial landmarks in the Ruhr region. The Hansa Coking Plant was opened in 1928 as a large coking plant in the former “forbidden city” of Huckarde. Until 1992, coke, coke oven gas, and raw materials for the chemical industry were produced here. Today, the museum commemorates this era and tells the story of heavy industry in the last century.
Here, in the heart of the Ruhr region, industrial heritage meets contemporary design.
The former coking plant is not only a monument to craftsmanship, but also an ode to character and innovation. Between the raw steel and timeless forms, you can feel the power of true creators. An inspiring environment for anyone who believes that design only truly comes to life when experience and sustainability go hand in hand.
